The decision to start looking for a new job can be both stressful and emotional — which leads many people to delay actually looking for a new gig. Even knowing where to start can be overwhelming. We want to make it a little easier for you. These six Austin tech companies have a myriad of open positions available, including developer, marketing, design, IT and sales roles — and are all hiring now. Happy hunting!

What they do: ShipStation helps online merchants deliver items more easily with a web-based interface that supports order processing, production of shipment labels and customer communication. Since its launch in 2011, the Austin team has grown to more than 50 employees.

Why you want to work here: ShipStation's team consists of individuals who want to help customers succeed. Plus, you’ll get to pick your own tech gear and take advantage of employee stock plans, flexible vacation and paid holidays, weekly catered lunches, drinks and snacks of your choice, and beer.

A note from leadership: "ShipStation’s mission is to democratize shipping and logistics technology — we’re real people helping real businesses," said CTO Tom Warmbrodt. "I get up every morning and can't wait to get to the office. I'm just too excited to work with these amazing people on these important and challenging problems. If you're awesome and want to make a dent in the universe, join us!"

What they do: The online credit card marketplace CreditCards.com has supported users in reaching their financial goals since 2000. With more than one million visitors a month, consumers can compare credit card offerings, connect with financial institutions and learn about industry news, advice, features and tools.

Why you want to work here: In addition to partnering with some of the top publishers and financial institutions in the country, CreditCards.com has a strict “awesome people” perk that ensures you’ll have the chance to grow professionally. A generous vacation policy, 401(k) with employer contributions and full health benefits also add to their benefits package.

A note from recruiting: “Ideal candidates are positive people with a good attitude that are skilled in their field,” said Lori Kline, in-house recruiter.

What they do: Founded in 2003, uShip hosts an online transportation marketplace that primarily supports the freight, household goods, and vehicle shipping markets. Within the last year, uShip has also launched a small freight marketplace, as well as its enterprise software platform.

Why you want to work here: Named a Top Austin Workplace three times, uShip’s perks include stock options, daily lunches with an in-house chef, 401(k) with company match, 100 percent paid health benefits, and “First Fridays” in the form of outings like a river float or party barge.

A note from recruiting: “We have a flexible and results-oriented environment, so we’re always looking for people that are self-managed, self-motivated, entrepreneurial spirited, and have a strong sense of self-accountability,” said Angie Meier, senior manager of talent acquisition. “Passion for solving real-world problems and working in a team environment is a must!”

What they do: HomeAway makes it easier for vacationers and property owners to locate, book and manage vacation rentals. Their marketplace has grown to include over one million rental listings since it launched in 2005. The company itself now has over 2,000 employees, with offices spanning 13 countries across three continents.

Why you want to work here: If you join the HomeAway team in Austin, you'll find yourself working in a vacation-themed office space across the street from the original Whole Foods. All employees receive four weeks vacation, an employee stock purchase plan and access to the office workout area that includes on-site showers and lockers. And twice a month, the office hosts entrepreneurial “Table Talks” for sharing innovation and creativity.

A note from leadership: “My team at HomeAway is a collection of really talented individuals who all believe in the goal of HomeAway and try to make it as successful as they can, coming in day in day out, making it a fun place to work,” said Narek Alaverdyan, senior director of engineering. “So, this is really the place that you want to work if you are an engineer, if you are really talented and if you have all of these different trending technologies that you’re familiar with.”

What they do: Eureka Software has been around since 1986 and has built up quite the portfolio of clients over time, including Samsung, IBM, Progressive, Dell and AT&T. The team of creatives, scientists and engineers builds customized solutions and products for over 315 customers.

Why you want to work here:  For 30 years, the company's focus has been on addressing complex development, product and UX challenges to create sophisticated products. They're a no-frills kind of company that values a serious, smart approach to work.

A note from leadership: “I'll be honest — we're picky,” said Richard Musser, VP of technology. “We want quality. We want character. We want a good fit for us and you. If you are smart, considered one of the best in your field and committed to delivering only the best technology solutions, we'd love to talk to you.”

What they do: BigCommerce's e-commerce platform allows users to build a customized online store, manage shipping and payments, and feature products on sites like Amazon and eBay. Since 2009, they’ve landed over $100 million in funding from investors like Revolution Partners, Softbank, Amex, General Catalyst and Telstra.

Why you want to work here: To empower their employees, the company offers a long list of perks and benefits, including competitive compensation and stock in the company, hackathons, educational assistance, pet insurance, paid days off for volunteerism, culture clubs, onsite yoga classes, commuter benefits, student loan debt resources, and regular team-building activities like paintball and movie nights.

A note from recruiting: “We care about what you’ve done and what skills you bring to BigCommerce just as much as who you are and the values that are important to you,” said Jennifer Mitchell, recruiting manager. “If you’re a strong collaborator, passionate about making an impact with your work, and 'humbitious' — a little term we use to describe someone who is ambitious but humble — you’ll feel at home working at BigCommerce. We’re hiring in Austin at our Four Points and R&D product-centric downtown location now!”
